This piece began with the central block of a ‘convergence pattern’ by Ricky Tims that was made forom a hand-dyed piece of fabric he dyed. After about a year, the idea of appliqueing a large flower over it came to me and I used a layered technique with ‘thread play’ over it to give the details. It was great fun to make and I was pleased with the results. The bold fabric border was influenced by the rash of fires that had hit my hometown of Santa Barbara at that time. It is one of my favorite pieces.
